In the summer of 2012 August and J released their first full-length album entitled "40.” Their debut album features unique vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and is set to rock style music and hummable singer/songwriter melodies. Though August and J’s musical style has its foundation in rock roots it draws a contemporary rock listening audience as well as pop and country. The songs compiled for the album are musically melodic and lyrically intelligent featuring the acoustic and electric guitar as well as a few with a touch of southern twang.
In the early 90's August and J wrote songs together, played live around the DFW metroplex, and were voted "Fort Worth Up-and-Coming Duo of the Year". Then life intervened and they were pulled in different directions. J became a single father while August continued to pursue a music career. They began creating music together again in the fall of 2007. In May of 2009, they released their first E.P., and over the next 18 months, they released two more.
“40” was written, recorded, produced and mastered entirely by August and J in their home studio. Track 10 entitled “The Silence Won’t Do” was featured in a video made in collaboration with the Brashear foundation to memorialize Anna Brashear who died of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia on October 31, 2010.
“I’ve always respected bands who consistently put out new music every year. As opposed to milking an album for 2 or 3 years” said August, “There’s something about being creative that helps you to continue to be creative.”
In June of 2012 August and J signed a 9-week publicity campaign with Wealthy Records. August and J are back together and ready to rock! They will be having several exciting events coming up in Austin, Houston and DFW.
